People living with dementia may become disorientated to the time and day which can cause anxiety and impact on the person’s day such as missing important events/appointments.
Simple orientation clocks show the day, date and time. They change automatically so you don’t need to worry about remembering to update daily!
There are a range of orientation clocks available in special stores or online. We demonstrate a wide selection of these at the Memory Technology Library. We work with people on developing good orientation strategies that support engagement and independence.
Orientation strategies such as keeping a diary, using a calendar, creating schedules and using a whiteboard to keep upcoming events visible, are a great support for people living with memory problems and dementia. Using them as part of your daily routine can keep you on top of appointments, events and other obligations.
