GPS stands for Global Positioning Satellite and allows your location to be known by nominated persons. GPS comes in many forms such as a pendant, an app on your smart phone, or a watch.
Using GPS can be a great way to continue being independent in out of house activities. GPS can be helpful in cases where you become disorientated when out and about or simply for reassurance and security. GPS pendants also have a call button which you can call for help if needed.
There are many considerations for GPS and you should discuss this with your family. GPS should never be used without the consent of the person wearing the device and we advise you talk more with the Occupational Therapist at the Memory Technology Library.
