It can be upsetting and challenging to receive a diagnosis of dementia and some people may retreat; avoiding others and stepping back from important roles and activities. We know this can be a hard time, however learning about your diagnosis, staying involved, and making good changes is important for how you will manage dementia as it progresses.
There are several steps you can take to build confidence and put in place important strategies and supports for now and the future. At the Living Well with Dementia Service you can make an appointment to meet with the nurse and occupational therapist to learn about dementia and strategies you can put in place. You may also be suitable to attend a post diagnostic education group.
